The image of “Paulchen” caused quite a stir and led to sometimes low-level discussions. Moreover, the image of “Paulchen” was removed by an unauthorized person from the “Photoglobe-mascot voting” section. In consequence, we have tightened the safety standards of www.photoglobus.prophoto-online.de and changed the commenting system, so that now only users registered with Photoglobe can submit comments.
With the agreement of the author, the image of “Paulchen” was once more uploaded in the voting section. As negative actions did not stop, the author requested Prophoto GmbH to definitely remove this image from the portal.
We respect but deplore the author’s decision, because initial comments on “Paulchen” gave us the idea to start a vote on a Photoglobe mascot in the first place.
Prophoto GmbH relies on fairness which is essential for this type of portal. Fairness is needed in the assessment of images, in comments and in voting on the “Photoglobe mascot”.
The author of the photo “Jeannie” has asked Prophoto GmbH to remove this picture from the photoglobe-mascot voting, because irregularities in the voting procedure are believed to have taken place. We at Prophoto GmbH have not identified any manipulation since 20 August 2010, but we accept the author’s decision.
